Summary:
Summary
The Material Manager, Sr sets expectations for procurement and controls of inventory levels and costs, ensures proper procedures for material storage/handling, and ensures that duties are performed to minimize inventory variances. This position works closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and external vendors. The Material Manager, Sr ensures minimum production constraints related to insufficient supply of material while driving efficient inventory turnover and minimizing holding costs. This position oversees a network of warehouses and Material Managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

Sets expectations for warehouse teams and provides support in escalations

Defines team KPIs and drives improvement through performance measurement

Works with sourcing to identify vendor opportunities to improve sourcing, pricing, lead time and logistics

Defines vendor KPIs and drives improvement through performance measurement and process improvement

Works with global sourcing team to ensure alignment on terms and contracts

Defines efficient procedures for sourcing, procuring, and controlling all inventory material for shop operations by reviewing production requirements, identifying critical material, and monitoring and adjusting existing inventory levels

Directs the purchasing function by developing corporate procurement procedures, training personnel, and updating procedures when greater efficiencies can be achieved

Identifies and minimizes idle/obsolete inventory and supervises disposition through buyback, internal transfers, sale to affiliate, external sale, or scrap

Maintains procurement and receiving operations, by designing forms and systems, ensuring verification of incoming shipments, costs, delivery, and product quality

Maintains the part numbering system by assigning numbers and updating the outline as needed

Plans and executes annual physical inventory in conjunction with Plant Manager and Controller
Qualifications
The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications

5+ years experience in a similar supply chain management role

Proficient with supply chain and inventory management systems

Advanced proficiency of forecasting and budgeting processes

Ability to drive results through information and team performance

Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
-
Proficient with standard desktop Microsoft applications including but not limited to, Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel
-
Ability to reason, make decisions and exercise independent judgment in various situations
-
Ability to solve problems through an analytical approach
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or related field, or equivalent experience

Experience or use of DAX for inventory management functions
