GC LabTech, Inc. is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist to join our team. GCLT exclusively performs testing on source plasma donation in our state-of-the-art laboratory by combining technology and automation to swiftly process hundreds of thousands of donors annually!
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for daily testing in the laboratory or a specialized subsection of the laboratory. This includes testing of samples using Good Laboratory Practice and compliance with GC LabTech policies, procedures, and directives pertaining to the quality, integrity, and testing of samples.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
· Receive and access samples from clients. Test samples according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and verify results in Laboratory Information System (LIS).
· Perform, monitor, and evaluate quality control data; determine trends, causes, or patterns of acceptability or unacceptability of results and initiate corrective action as needed.
· Assist in the validation of new laboratory tests and/or instruments.
· Perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed. Troubleshoot instruments, resolve technical problems and document and initiate corrective action plans and follow through as needed.
· Follow, monitor, and enforce all laboratory safety guidelines.
· Travel as required to attend instrument training or continuing education provided by the manufacturer or other company requirements.
· Assist with receipt, management of supplies and reagent, and notify appropriate personnel when new supplies are needed. Prepare, label, and test reagents as required.
· Accurately and consistently complete the detailed documentation as required by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, laws, and GC LabTech policies and procedures.
· Assist in the development and/or revision of laboratory SOPs.
· Perform/schedule/plan routine maintenance on equipment as needed to minimize the impact on workflow.
· Continuously support the organization’s mission, vision, values, and high standards.
· Any other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
· B.S. degree from an accredited institution with a major in medical technology, biology, microbiology, chemical sciences, or related life sciences is required.
· Meet CLIA requirements for Testing personnel under 42 CFR §493.1489
· Minimum 3 - 5 years of related laboratory experience
· Fluently speak, read and write English. Professional phone and interpersonal communication skills
· Strong organizational skills
Preferred Skills
· MT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent is highly desired
· Ability to work in a team environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Performing the responsibilities of the job requires frequent standing/walking and sitting. Manual dexterity is necessary. Normal color perception required (color blind test required). Kneel, stoop, crouch and balance occasionally. May lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional lab environment. This position is OSHA Category I as an employee must work under conditions where the potential exists to make contact with blood or blood components as a result of splashes, spills, and/or sharps. Immunizations/vaccinations: Hep B vaccination is highly encouraged.
