Job Description
The Project Manager has the primary responsibility of supervising and mentoring the engineering team, managing project resources and quality, and maintaining client satisfaction. As a Project Manager, you will oversee and coordinate multiple projects concurrently. You will be responsible for the overall successful completion of projects assigned, developing project schedules, managing engineering resources, and coordinating with company department directors for operational synergy.
The Project Manager will oversee the design and engineering of various project types, including education, laboratory, manufacturing, office, restaurants, retail, hospitality, healthcare, high-rise, multi-family, military, and more.
Design Skills
- Act as Engineer of Record for designs that are executed under your supervision and direction.
- Manage the engineering team and staff projects adequately and efficiently.
- Delegate work and supervise staff members as they perform their tasks.
- Maintain interdisciplinary coordination with other trades/projects consultants.
- Mentor junior level employees and help them develop in their professional careers.
- Monitor correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, etc.
- Participate in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
- Communicate with clients in an engaging manner.
- Supervise and lead coordination meetings.
- Supervise preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions.
- Manage construction administrative duties such as field reports and responses to RFIs .
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and scope of work documents.
- Assist with business development and project pursuits.
Requirements & Qualifications
The Project Manager role requires a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with in-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including all applicable building codes and industry standards. In addition to strong engineering skills, you will need strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to be successful in this position. - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience working in a consulting engineering firm.
- Current PE registration as a Mechanical Engineer.
- History working with projects such as corporate office, tenant improvements, higher education, science and technology, retail, medical, and manufacturing.
- Ability to fully prepare a construction bid document and all the various phases of the project including the documentation and construction administration phase.
- High-level of proficiency in design and calculation software.
- Working knowledge of all project discipline systems to ensure proper design coordination.
- Knowledge of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) construction costs and ability to estimate and evaluate construction costs.
- Manage and motive the engineers in a hybrid work environment.
- LEED accreditation, preferred.
- Experience with latest version of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT software.
