We are a wholesale bakery looking for a pastry supervisor/cake decorator to join our team.
The ideal candidate will assist the Executive Pastry Chef in the production of pastries and deli products according to recipes and presentation standards. This position will be directly supervised by the Executive Pastry Chef and does require some advanced knowledge of procedures, tools, and techniques in food production.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
o Manage the daily production, preparation and presentation of all bakery customers.
o Must be creative and assist with decorating cakes and cookies for holidays and special events
o Supervise pastry cooks to ensure product is completed to standards.
o Must have strong cake decorating experience to oversee all custom cakes, wedding cakes, etc.…
o Ensure an adequate supply of all products prepared on a timely basis.
o Establish standard recipes book with supervision of executive pastry chef.
o Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
o Prioritize, organize, delegate work and follow through.
o To be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
Qualifications:
Assists Executive Pastry Chef in day-to-day flow of pastry productions by writing production lists, assigning tasks, and training members of pastry team.
Has working knowledge of advanced pastry techniques and well-rounded in all areas of the pastry kitchen including breads, pastries, confections, and cake design.
Ensure the quality of the product before it reaches the sales floor and proper storage.
o Teach and mentor associates the importance of consistency in preparation and presentation.
o Experience in production techniques of large volume of desserts while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
o Always maintain cleanliness of work area.
o 5-7 years minimum pastry related experience is required.
o 2-year minimum supervisory related job experience is required.
o Pastry related education is preferred
o Must have Texas Food Handlers certification.
o Keep walk-in, prep area and equipment up to Health Department standards always.
o Prepare innovative, cutting edge and appealing pastries for customers.
Physical Requirements:
o Ability to stoop, grasp, lift and or carry or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.
o Ability to work standing up in a confined area for long periods of time to perform the essential functions
