Job Description:
The Staff Accountant role at OSJL is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and review of financial results and reporting associated with the Company’s retail and real estate operations. This role partners closely with associates and leaders in the Finance department and is a contributing team member in the preparation, development, and analysis of information for the combined financial statements. The Staff Accountant role works both independently and collaboratively with all levels of associates, leadership, and external parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and contribute to each financial month-end close process.
- Complete all assigned account reconciliations independently and effectively.
- Prepare supporting work-papers and accruals for balance sheets and certain income statement accounts. Provide analytical commentary for noted variances in budget, forecast, and prior years.
- Prepare general ledger journal entries accurately and timely.
- Contribute to the preparation of the combined financial statements and all required disclosures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Coordinate and provide expert support and analysis during external audits.
- Maintain awareness of proper internal financial controls. Develop and execute corrective actions to address any deficiencies.
- Review Finance department operations for cost-saving opportunities and work cross-functionally to incorporate these initiatives throughout the business.
- Analyze Finance department procedures, monitor resource utilization, and suggest improvements where appropriate.
- Identify key data sources and utilize data-driven insights about departmental metrics to recommend and engage in improved business decisions.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reporting deliverables and contribute to special projects as requested.
- Continuously develop job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Effectively utilize virtual means to communicate efficiently and work independently under remote conditions as applicable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of accounting experience (including internships) is preferred.
- On a CPA track is preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and FASB ASC.
- Experience working with Oracle or a large ERP/Financial Management System is preferred.
- Solid computer skills and proficiency with MS Excel are required.
- Proficient with Google platform (i.e. Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
Work Environment:
- Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard
potential. Sedentary, and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.

The annual salary range for this position is between $50,000 - $60,000. Salary commensurates with years of experience.
