ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel is required but not limited to Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Overnight stays will be required.
- Extended work hours are expected. Particularly during but not limited to the spring planting season and fall harvest season.
- Transportation of planting and harvest equipment to off station yield trial locations in Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
- Calculate the appropriate pesticide and fertilizer amounts needed for application. Perform pesticide and fertilizer applications to yield trials.
- Perform layout of fields for planting the yield trials, prepare seed for planting, package seed, plant, collect data, complete field management activities, harvest, dry and clean harvest samples, jar samples for milling, assist in submitting samples to the mill and grain quality labs.
- Guide yield trials to their completion per specific procedures exercising independent judgment and discretion as appropriate. Coordinate work of other technicians and/or temporary (seasonal) employees ensuring work is of high quality and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct projects at other research stations or groups. Interact with other teams.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies necessary for the completion of the yield trials.
- Operate and maintain equipment in good working condition in conjunction with Farm Operations. Keep records of service and maintenance activities (preventative maintenance plan, repair and maintenance plan, replacement plan).
- Participates in decision making regarding feasibility of prospective projects.
- Collaborate with multi-functional process improvement teams to design, test, introduce and implement modern technologies into the New Product Development department. Help improve efforts aimed at upgrading research equipment such as planters, tractors, combines, computer programs, the use of Microsoft Office 365, etc.
- Other Duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
- The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field. In lieu of degree, a high school diploma with 7 years of work experience in an agricultural field is acceptable.
- Experience in agriculture research (field research plots), tractors, planters, combines, or other heavy equipment is preferred.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Performs a wide variety of lab or field work, including experiments. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. Maintains equipment and inventory levels for general supplies. May write experimental reports, summaries, and protocols. May also be responsible for various sample preparations, including experiments as required. Develops and maintains records for the experiments performed.

Fluency in English, excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.

- People Management: May supervise 1 - 5 employees. Partners with next level manager for setting goals and discipline.

- Math Ability: Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic math, and modern algebra.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed. A “Class A” CDL and a pesticide licenses is a requirement for this job. Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL and pesticide licenses within 3 months of employments.
