Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and visionary Community Director to spearhead the development and management of our federation of online communities. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for community building, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to promoting civil discourse in digital spaces. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of online interaction and play a key role in a groundbreaking project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the recruitment campaign for community leaders, including defining and refining our pitch, crafting advertising strategies, and participating in promotional webinars.
- Establish criteria for admission to the federation of community runners, conducting candidate reviews and interviews as needed.
- Oversee the development and publication of community standards of conduct and content, ensuring alignment with our mission and values.
- Implement criteria for revocation of community federation status in cases of unaddressed violations, fostering accountability and maintaining the integrity of the network.
- Mediate community-to-community disputes and facilitate resolutions at a high level, addressing concerns and promoting mutual understanding.
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimize marketing channels and enhance brand presence within the online community landscape.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to community leaders, fostering their professional development and promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Act as a liaison between the community federation and the online publication, ensuring that the publication reflects the diverse perspectives and concerns of our subscribers and remains responsive to their needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in community management or related roles, preferably within online communities or social media platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully building and managing diverse teams or communities.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate and resolve conflicts in a diplomatic and constructive manner.
- Familiarity with online community platforms and tools, as well as emerging trends in digital communication and social media.
- Passion for promoting civil discourse, diversity, and inclusion in online spaces.
- Skepticism of traditional media and a sense that it is failing in its fundamental mission, with a desire to contribute to a new model of unbiased news coverage.
Additional Information:
This position will initially be offered as a part-time contract role, with the potential for transition to a full-time salaried position in the near future. Flexible scheduling and remote work options are available. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a willingness to adapt to evolving priorities and challenges.
