Job Summary:
The VP of Operations is a key role on the leadership team at Vontas and is responsible for leading and managing the operations of all products in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) portfolio offered by Vontas. This position will be accountable for building and further strengthening a strong customer focused delivery and maintenance organization by setting and improving processes and achieving strong results through the Operations Team.

Additionally, this role will be responsible to act as the executive sponsor of most customer facing projects for Vontas. As a member of the Leadership Team, the VP of Operations is critical in setting and implementing the broader strategy for the overall business. The success of the VP of Operations will be measured by forecast accuracy around net revenue growth, profitability, BQR and Core ratios, performance of the business around the PS and Maintenance Ratios, customer attrition, IRR for new initiatives and acquisitions (as applicable), talent management, NPS, and attrition.
The VP of Operations will successfully manage and support four (4) teams including Production Operations, Professional Services (Project Management and Field Service), Technical Delivery & Support and Vehicle Engineering. This role reports to the General Manager (GM).
Supervisory Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage priorities and support of four (4) teams including Production Operations, Professional Services, Technical Delivery & Support and Vehicle Engineering.

Contribute to the creation of the Vontas Company strategy and drive implementation in the overall business and the Operations group.

Lead in talent acquisition and performance management processes, including recruitment activities and decisions on personnel for Operations.

Identify and nurture talent within the team for future leadership roles.
-
Collaborate with the team to drive, develop, and execute innovation within our products, delivery methodology, and maintenance program.

Serve as escalation point and executive sponsor for Vontas customer projects.

Represent Operations and contribute to weekly bid-review calls. Act as an approver for proposal pursuits, bids, and pricing.

Establish and communicate performance expectations to the Operations team.

Identify performance gaps and monitor performance to ensure development plans are met and take actions as needed on performance management.

Contribute, as needed, to due diligence activities for potential acquisition targets.

Ensure fair and equal treatment of employees, avoiding favoritism, addressing difficult issues (with assistance from Human Resources), and practice empathy and compassion.

Promote Company policies, procedures, mission, and values by training and providing direction to direct reports in their use and application.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Oversee annual, quarterly and monthly P&L forecasts and results for PS and maintenance revenue with high forecast accuracy.

Provide continuous improvements via streamlined processes, increased productivity, gained efficiencies and enhanced values.

Routinely collaborate with Finance, Development, Product, Legal, Sales and Marketing and Human Resource teams to ensure long term funnel growth and health.

Accountable for governance of projects to ensure adherence to scope, budget, schedule, and quality delivery.

Ensure appropriate revenue recognition processes are followed.

Balance the Operations OPEX with the investment in maintenance to maximize new name growth and retention of existing customers.

Ensure clear project plans and delivery artifacts are established, executed, and governed to achieve project success.

Ensure Operations support for sales pursuits in back-to-base and new logo RFP responses.

Oversee Production Operations leadership for optimized management of supply chain management and working capital.

Report out on project status, financial performance and forecasting to Vontas General Manager and Modaxo Leadership.

Anticipate domestic/international travel commitments, with over 50% being designated to account site visits, conference participation, exhibitions, and workshops.

Education and Experience:

Post-secondary education in the area of Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Minimum of 10 years of industry-related experience including at least four (4) years in an upper management and/or leadership role.

Understanding of the North American Transit Industry and Agencies is preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer/laptop.

Ability to travel (including domestic and international), sometimes for extended periods, which may involve sitting during transit and walking at various locations.

Must be able to life up to 10 pounds at a time.

Must be able to handle high utilization of hand and wrist dexterity.
